About her
I found myself saying to a friend recently “there’s not enough laughter in my life and that needs to change”, so here I find myself.
What I’m not looking for is my “other half” as I don’t feel half of anything without a partner. I dislike the concept that two half people make a whole. I prefer to think in terms of two whole people being even better together, bringing complementary strengths to the relationship, with each person feeling “more” themselves; more confident, more secure, more valuable, and yes, that means more vulnerable too.
I’m more than capable on my own but I do like being in a meaningful, committed relationship and all that it brings, namely enhancement. More laughter, more shared experiences, more fun, more curiosity, more discoveries, more meaning………
Given my comment below, is there any point in my trying to describe my interests and attributes?
Ok, an appetiser to whet your appetite - or not - here are just a few.
I’m creative, capable, practical and thoughtful. I’m a good listener and I like to chat.
Am told I am ‘down to earth’, fitting for a gardener and a fair comment. I like the outdoors, though not obsessively so, happy to give a stormy day a miss, though looking at the dynamic waves can be invigorating.
I can be sharp, witty and playful when relaxed and comfortable with the company, otherwise, a tendency to be more reserved.
I like good food, good wine, good design, preferring understated to over satiated. Simplicity is key.
A coastal walk with a country pub is preferable to me than starched white tablecloths in a 5 star stuffy restaurant with over attentive waiting staff and silver domed assiettes, (been there, done that), not to rule it out now and again though😊. Fickle?
Just making the point that in the ‘right’ company, whereby, I mean, we feel good about our ourselves and good about the person we are with, anything goes. We adapt because we want to, not because we ought to or are under pressure to do so.

Is there any point listing desirable qualities when it wouldn’t take into account chemistry or that inexplicable "je ne sais quoi"?
That “thing”, that one can’t quite name, but which one can feel which makes it real and tangible, albeit elusive, nonetheless, we know it when we meet it. The elusiveness, of course, making it rare, precious and valuable.
The above said, it goes without saying that you act with integrity and discretion and are honest and trustworthy.
Shared values for sure, but also room for alternative points of view. It’s all too easy to get stuck with one’s opinions without having them challenged in a non-confrontational, or judgemental way.
Decide for yourself with what I’ve written whether I am sufficiently educated or not. I’m not in to ticking boxes to describe a life lived.
