About him
As a former journalist this bit should be easy but the one thing I’ve never written about is me but I’ll give it a go. I had an enjoyable time growing up in Pembrokeshire, spent 25 years in Bristol and now live in the Cotswolds between Cirencester and Cheltenham.
I enjoy most sports, especially rugby, tennis, horse racing and F1. I play tennis regularly but, if the weather is bad, can easily get lost in a good book, especially autobiographies, Roman and Greek history.
I’ve recently joined the Art Society and learning much more about the world of art and artists, while occasionally helping out at a small theatre in Cirencester. I’ve also joined the local flying club as a social member and this year have become a volunteer teacher at my local primary school.
I’ve more or less lost all interest in politics, preferring to spend my time wandering around garden centres, antique shops, auctions and galleries. Have limited cooking skills but will have a go at most things.
I lost my wife seven years ago but we had a smashing life together, visiting many countries but often returning to Italy. My son is a hospital consultant and lives in Bath with his wife and Arthur .. the dog.

I would like to meet someone who has my silly sense of humour and enjoys life, probably has grown-up children and her own interests. I would hope you like walking and talking about nothing in particular while watching the world go by. Ideally we would have lots to talk about.
It would be great to meet a woman who, despite the ups and downs we all go through, is happy and optimistic about the future and appreciates all the good things life has to offer, including cake, coffee and companionship.
Not keen on cats, prefer dogs.
